How to mark a student late to school if the event is first thing in the morning |
Civica recommends that late arrival to school be viewed differently from late arrival to an event. Late arrival to school is often given an absence type of ‘Late’ and usually included in BOS reports and academic reports. Late arrival to an event is more like late arrival to a class and usually not included on BOS or Academic reports. If a student is late for an event that occurs first thing in the morning the student should come to and be recorded late in the same way as if it was a normal school day (eg: via Data Entry | Absences | Manage).
This is what will be seen on screen:
Data Entry | Absences | Manage will then be showing two rows for the student – one for the event still, and one for the late record that has just been created. Note how the event status has now changed to show that the student was partially absent and that the arrival time to the event has been changed to the time the student arrived at school.
If the student is going to be late to an event not on school grounds, Civica assumes that the student will not be making their own way to the event but rather they need to come via school. When they do this they will need to go to student services for a normal ‘Late’ record.
If your school allows the student to make their own way to an event not on school grounds, the event supervisor will need to alert student services if you want an official school ‘late’ record to be created. |
