To have iWise calculate the estimated mark for you

1.As above, click on the student’s empty mark cell and select Edit Mark Detail.
2.Click on either of the two cog icons next to the Estimate field.

If you click on the cog on the left, the estimate will be calculated based on only tasks of the same category as the one you are working with.

If you click on the cog on the right, the estimate will be calculated based on all tasks.

lightbulb_on   If you haven’t categorised any of your tasks, clicking either cog will achieve the same result.

3.Once you click on either cog the calculated estimate will appear.

4.Click Save.
5.The popup will close and the estimated mark will appear in the main grid, highlighted in yellow

lightbulb_on  If you would like to exclude a whole task from being included when creating estimates, uncheck the Include in estimates tick box on the Advanced tab of the task’s Full Task Edit popup.

lightbulb_on  If you are combining tasks, and the final mark is all that is really important you may not need to create an estimate for a student who misses one of the component tasks. This is because if a student does not have a mark for a task, iWise will pro-rata adjust the relative weights of the tasks that do have marks for and use those tasks only to calculate the final result. For example: You have three tasks that will be combined to form a final mark, each of those tasks is weighted at 33%. A student misses one of the tasks. When it comes time to do the final combined total, the student’s marks in the other two tasks will count as 50% each.

lightbulb_on  To ensure a more accurate estimate, combined tasks are never used when calculating a student’s estimate
