Automatic cancelling of classes because of events

If all students are attending an event, which causes all the students of a class to be away for the whole period, the class will automatically be cancelled.

Classes will also be cancelled if some of the students are on an event, and others not in class for other reasons, such as absent from school or in Sickbay. They must be absent for the whole period for this to happen.

lightbulb_on  If a student misses the first half of a class due to a cello lesson, and misses the second half because they are in the sickbay, then iWise will not have them as absent for the whole period. An event/ absence/ sickbay item must cover the whole period for iWise to consider the student as not being in class.

Cancelling classes doesn’t happen immediately – classes are cancelled on a schedule, usually at quarter past and quarter to the hour.

lightbulb_on  You can manually run the scheduled task, or adjust its frequency by going to Home | Admin | Control Panel | Scheduler – using the task ‘Auto cancel classes with no students’.

Once a class has been cancelled the teacher is then available in the covers area, and highlighted with a grey start to indicate that their normal class has been cancelled.
