Traditionally, if a student is on an excursion, to record that they were not in their normal class you would create an absence type of ‘excursion’ (or similar). If you are using the events area of iWise you no longer use the absences area to do this as absence records are automatically created for you. If a student is recorded as going to an event, and they don’t attend because they are sick or away from school, the fact that they were supposed to be attending the event is maintained but an absence record is also created for them.
