Not everyone can create events or see events

Who can create events?

On Calendar | Events | Manage you will need Calendar Admin or Admin user permissions to create an event. For people with normal staff user permissions the ‘New Event’ button will be hidden on this screen.

iWise users with staff login permissions can create ‘quick add’ events on their own calendars via Home | Timetables | All, but can’t create events on other staff members’ calendars.

It is possible to have iWise configured so that one person can manage another’s calendar. For example, it is possible for a PA to manage the Principal’s calendar. Please speak to Civica if you would like help setting this up. A modification to allow one person to create events for another can be made for your school under your maintenance plan.

Who can see events?

By default, all staff can see events via Calendar | Events | Manage and on Home | Timetables | All – except if the event is flagged to be viewable by the attendees only or if the event is marked private.

Flagging an event viewable by the attendees only and marking it private is done on the individual event’s management popup.

An event viewable by the attendees only will do just that, but will still be visible to staff with iWise admin permissions. (Everything is always available to Admin users).

If an event is flagged as private, the teacher on that event will not require covering for that time. The teacher on the event will see the event on their calendar only (Home | Timetables | All) – not on Calendar | Events | Manage.

If a student is on a private event all teachers will be able to see it on their calendar, but it won’t appear on Calendar | Events | Manage.
