If the event is going to be held more than once – for example, at the same time over a number of days or weeks, you can specify that the event is a Recurring Event. This is specified on the General tab in the Recurring Event field. If you click ‘Yes’ in this field the Recurrence accordion appears.

It is important to understand the difference and record correctly an event as either a recurring one day event, or an event that lasts for more than one day.
An event should only have a start date different to its end date if the attendees really are attending the event for the full duration you specify. A school camp where the students depart on a Monday, stay overnight and return on Tuesday would be and example of where you would record an event finish date different from its start day. But an event that starts at 9am on Monday, finishes for the day at 3pm and then starts again the following day at 9am should be recorded as a one day event with a one day recurrence.

To specify the event recurrence, click on the Recurrence accordion.
This accordion contains the following fields:
This event occurs on
The ‘Timetable’ and ‘Weekday’ buttons allow you to specify whether the event is going to recur on a day of the week or on a day on your timetable. If your school uses a 5 day (weekly) timetable then the options for these two buttons are going to be the same. But if your school uses a 10 day timetable (or similar) you will be able to select day names rather than week day names by clicking ‘Timetable’.
The ’Every Cycle’ buttons allow you to specify whether the event is going to occur every week (or timetable cycle) or less frequently. For example, if the event is going to occur every second Wednesday you would specify that the event was going to occur on a ‘Wednesday’, every 2 cycles.

End date
Specify here whether the event has no recurrence end date, whether it stops recurring after a specified number of times it is held (end after x cycles) or whether is ends on a date specified by you.
Attendees
By default, the same attendees will be listed as attending the event for each of its occurrences. If you want to manually construct the list of attendees for each occurrence, click ‘No’ in this field.
When the event is then saved and the popup closed, you will see individual events listed for each of the occurrences. The event flagged with the yellow star is the ‘master’ event. Any changes you would like to make to the event need to be made on the ‘master’ event.
