Adding events overview
Basic event setup
Events are most commonly created by using the New Event button on Calendar | Events | List and the following instructions are for creating events from this screen. Other methods of creating events and appointments are described later in this document.
The minimum information needed to successfully record an event is:
• | Start date, Start time, End date and End time |
All the other information you can enter about an event may be useful, and in some cases quite significant, but not essential for creating an event.
The following instructions describe the use of the fields, but you may not need to fill them all in.
How to create an event:
Go to Calendar | Events | Manage.
(This is usually the home screen for the Calendar module)
Click New Event, which is located in the Actions area on the right.

The New Event popup appears. At this stage it will only have one tab – Maintenance. Once you have entered some details and clicked Save more tabs will appear.

Select an event Category. The category will be something like ‘Excursion’ or ‘Sport’ or ‘Appointment’ and is used to group events. Your school can manage the categories for you to choose from.
Enter an Event Name.
Enter a Start Date, Start Time, End Date and End Time. The time can be entered using a 24 hour clock (Eg 15:45) or you can enter 4pm and iWise will convert it to 16:00.
You can even enter ‘now’ and the current time will be inserted.
You have now entered all the information essential to the creation of an event, so click Save.
When you do the event is recorded and the extra tabs appear across the top.
