Attendance Overview
Attendance management in iWise has now changed, with the release of the new attendance management screens.
• | The 23 screens previously used for absence management are now condensed to just 5 easy to use attendance screens. The main screen used for attendance management is Data Entry | Attendance | Manage. |
Overview of the new absence screens.
• | If you are using iWise with Maze, absence records will no longer be stored in Maze. They will be stored in iWise. This means that, by default, you will not be able to see them in Maze. |
Please speak to Civica if you would like iWise to be set up to have absence records pushed to maze on a regular schedule, or if you would like archived absence data to be moved into iWise.
• | Another important feature of the new absence screens is that an absence record will be described as ‘Full’ or ‘Partial’ and the same absence type can be used for both. For example, in NSW schools using the DET absence codes, if a student is absent from school without explanation they will be marked with the code A – Absent. This could mean that they were absent for the whole day or that they were late or left early. Whole day absences are flagged with Red, and partial day absences are flagged with Purple. The time fields are used to determine whether an absence is for the whole day or is a partial day absence. |
1. This student is absent for the full day. We can see that because he is displaying a red (a) absence record. There are no times recorded in the ‘Arrived’, ‘Departed’ or ‘Returned’ fields.
2. This student has arrived late. We can see that because he is displaying a purple (Pa) absence record and there is a time displayed in the ‘Arrived’ column.
Note that both absences are using the same absence code ‘A – Absent Unexplained’.
