Searching for existing attendance records |
Existing attendance records can be found via Data Entry | Attendance | Manage. This is the main attendance management screen in iWise and is where you go to find absences as well as create them. The screen is divided into 5 areas:
This area is used to search for and create absence records for individual students or to filter the list of students displayed in the main grid.
2. Actions area The actions area is used to print leave passes and late notes, to notify parents and staff of absent students and to print absence reports. It also includes the action ‘show unexplained’ which will help you chase up unexplained absences.
3. Main grid The main grid is where you see a list of students and their attendance status. This area is used to create new absence records (by clicking on a green cell), to record late arrival or early leave (by using the three ‘time’ columns), and to view and/or edit existing records.
4. Student and absence detail When you click on a row in the main grid, details about the student and the absence record are loaded in this area. There are three accordions in this area – Details, Reason and Contact Details. Click on an accordion heading to access it.
5. Current location and period detail Below the details accordions is a grid that displays the attendance status of the student in each of the periods that your school has flagged to be marked.
If you are looking for an absence history for a student, the Name field provides a button to do this without having to manually change the date range.

If you are looking for unexplained absences for previous days, the Action ‘Show Unexplained’ is the quickest way to display this information.
