Report period

Academic reports are stored in academic report periods.

Each report period can, in theory, store two reports (S1 & S2). However, so you can make best use of the cut off date and other report period fields inspirit recommends starting a new report period for each report.

Report cutoff date

The report cutoff date is set with the report period. Class lists for reporting stay in sync with your timetable until the date specified in iWise as your report cutoff date.

Report template for printing

The report printing template is created and loaded separately from the screen setup.

This is usually done by Civica as part of your initial report setup. Please speak to Civica for more information.

Report title and head of school

The title of the report and head of school used when printing a report is managed via Academic | Admin | Report Periods.

Mark and comment entry fields

Mark and comment entry fields are managed via Academic | Admin | Mark Fields and Academic | Admin | Show Fields. Normally these are set up with your initial academic report set up, and don’t usually need to be changed after that.

Outcome and Profile descriptions

Subject outcome and key learning area (profile) descriptors need to be entered via Academic | Admin | Manage Subjects.

Outcome, Profile and Grade dropdown lists

These are the options used for marking the outcomes, profiles and grades. They are managed via Academic | Admin | In List. The dropdown lists are usually set up with your initial academic report setup, and once in place don’t usually need to be changed.

If you do make a change however, it is important to let Civica know as your report template will need to be updated. Changing the lists on screen does not change them on the report printout.

Comment limit

iWise allows you to specify a maximum comment length in characters or in words. You can also specify whether you want to enforce the limit or just provide a warning. This information is specified via Home | Admin | Settings.

Comment bank

iWise provides a comment bank to store commonly used comments. This can be set up for the whole school at the beginning of a reporting period or set up by individual teachers as they mark their reports.

Proofing rules

In addition to a spell checker, iWise provides a proofing tool. To use this function you will need to set up your proofing rules. This is done via Academic | Admin | Proofing.

Pastoral graph

A student’s results can be graphed on the pastoral data entry screen. What mark is graphed is managed via Academic | Admin | Show Fields. If the internet connection is slow at your school you may find turning this graph off helps speed up the pastoral screen. This is managed via the iWise setting ACADEMIC_SHOW_ PASTORAL_GRAPH
